How many hours did you want to sit in the theater?
They could have tightened the script and editing up and done it in one 2.5 hour movie instead of two, but I'm not too bothered by it. The scene they ended on was pretty anticlimactic though.
With Dune, you either leave everything out and try to make a story that it's not, or spend 6 hours on it. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know where they ended, but there's no good spot. Even the book ends when it's just getting good.

Are the rest of the books worth reading? Read book 1 and was disappointed with the ending. I have the others and never bothered to finish reading them after my disappointment in the rushed ending of book 1.
Also the weird punishment of the princess seemed completely unjust.
