They could have tightened the script and editing up and done it in one 2.5 hour movie instead of two, but I'm not too bothered by it. The scene they ended on was pretty anticlimactic though.

They decided to split it into two movies and ended it pretty unceremoniously right at the mid point (rather than, say, finding a good place for an ending).
It's an alright movie and certainly better than most of the trash coming out of Pedowood these days.
