Try a pawpaw If you can ever find one. A seemingly tropical fruit that grows from Georgia to Ontario. Taste like a mango mixed with pineapple.
Iv never heard of a pawpaw
Most havent, because after picking they are over-ripe within just a few days. That's why they aren't commercially viable.
If you live almost anywhere on the east side of the US check out the website "falling fruit.org" people map out wild edibles across the country you can search your area if anyone has mapped pawpaws
Jackfruit is another rare but awesome mango variant.
I've only had jackfruit from a can, it wasn't very good plain, but when I put bbq sauce on it and grilled it it was awesome.
There is also another one called the cherimoya that can be bought on amazon, I've yet to try. Supposed to taste like cotton candy.
Jackfruit is usually sold fresh in sections here, just because it is so huge!
I've seen Cherimoya at the World Store, never bought any, I'll give it a try next time I'm there.
