It was also far more expensive than your paste at like 70 quid for 50 tablets (i think thats what ive got coming anyway).

Those drugs made in India can be very sketchy. The israeli Teva manufactures lots of generics in India and I remember many articles about the questionable quality of those drugs, like having inconsistent doses of the drug in each pill and so on. Here are a couple of articles:
