Am I the only one? They wonder why I haven't been to church. Well, get the government out of the church and I'll come back. In the meantime, I'm all paid up with my tithing. I've been paying my 10 percent gross earnings out of each paycheck every since this insanity has started. But if I could bypass the Church and pay the money directly to God, I would.

I was married to a mormon. I read the Book of Mormon, the Doctrines & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. I've spent hours talking to missionaries & visiting teachers and attending priesthood meetings.

"As man is, God once was. As God is, man may become."

The mormon church teaches that God was once a man, but by leading a perfect life he earned Godhood over his own world, to populate with his spirit children.

But there wasn't a single member of authority that would say that this has only been achieved once. Ostensibly, others have done so, and were given dominion over their own worlds.

Now, since mormonism says it is monotheistic, it doesn't encourage the worship of those other gods. Just the god of this world.

The bible is very clear on who the god of this world is. The God of the Bible is the god of all creation. The prince of air is the god of this world.

So this is just a new riff on the fruit of the tree of knowledge. "God doesn't want you to eat it, because you would become like him" said the serpent.

And this hurts, because some of the best people I know are Mormon.
