Sometimes this happens and it requires a hard reboot to fix. Is it something to do with my motherboard or graphics chip, or something stupid like a connection?

Thanks for the response. It’s an old PC I built about 10 years ago running Windows XP Pro and I’ve forgotten a lot of the tech specs. The connection is a VGA with a DVI converter to fit the video card slot. I just now took off the converter and plugged my monitor into my laptop and it works, so the monitor appears fine. I guess I could start with the converter piece, but I’m starting to lean more towards the graphics card atm.
