I love a good Scotch, always neat. I'm a big fan of Scotch from the Islay region. Laphroaig 10yr is my go to, but I really liked the bottle of Lagavulin 16yr I had about a year back, and may turn towards it in the future. If you drink it, what brands do you fancy?

Islay and Speyside lover here.

Cheers mate!

I believe I've dabbled in Speyside Scotch before (probably received as a gift) Any particular labels you would recommend?

Aberlour, Tamnavulin, Glenrothes, Lismore

I'll look at those the next time I hit the liquor store!

Just finished a bottle of Balvenie Doublewood 12 last month. Good stuff. I liked Lagavulin 16 but holy fuck is it smokey. I haven't branched out a ton with scotch. I'm afraid of spending $80 on a bottle I won't like. Highland Park 12 has been a go to for me. Not the best but hits a good middle of the road and not a huge price tag.

Lagavulin's heavy smoke is what I love about it, pair it with some BBQ....fuck yes!

Spey urn 10 you

Super smooth under 30 dollars one of the oldest distillers. Should always have a bottle around I'm not big into the heavy peat stuff but if i do drink it I like to cut it in half with some super smooth easy drinking speyburn 10 yr

Yes I'm a Scottish drinker.

Ardbeg fan, here. For group cheaps, Grant's isn't too bad.

I enjoyed the couple of bottles of Ardbeg I've had.

I usually reach for Glennfiddich 12.

Kaiyo whiskey lover here.

I enjoy a good whiskey when im not feeling Scotch.

I identify as fluid: sometimes I feel Scotch, sometimes Irish and sometimes Japanese.

Lagavulin (or if I do not have $120 to spare); Laphroaig.

Yeah I'm the same way, I once had a glass of Laphroaig 25yr in Chicongo on time and it was amazing....but $450 a bottle is steep

Aberlour 16 year. - Better than most 18y scotches I have had. Currently my go-to, but I have expensive taste in scotch. - Priced like most other brands price their 10y or 12y. Around $65 but given the quality I think it is about $20 below the market.

Aberlour 12 year. - What I drink when I cannot find the 16y. Very good. - Better than anything else even close to the price.

Macallan Sherry Oak 12 year - What I drink when I am out of the house and I am ordering off a menu. I rarely see Aberlour on a menu

I'll look into them, I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Sherry aged Scotch though, think I like the smokiness of the Islay region Scotch

That's fair... My preferences are for Speysides and these are some of the best* in my opinion.

*of course there are better Speysides but only if you are rich enough to spend over $120/bottle.

I try to keep it around $60 range

Dalwinne 15 yr. I have been preferring highland scotches the past couple of years.
