I've been working with a recruiter for a long time now, close to a decade. The jobs she got me a few years ago were great, but now, it seems like the quality has been going downhill. The latest job she got me just seems shady as hell too. I interviewed for Company A, on behalf of Company B, but payroll is going through Company C, even though I'm working for Company D. How much is this contract worth that there's 4 companies involved for one client?! This is making me rethink if i really want this job, since this comes off as super shady. Not only that, I just did all the background checks, but I have to do all the new hire paperwork again, since the company background checks don't transfer.

The second company seems really nice, so i can definitely do the job. Except for one slight problem, it's the same company I used to work in before my wife passed away. Technically its the parent company, but if you knew the structuring of this company, its all one in the same. It pays well, the job is interesting, but i dont want my brain to do something emotionally dumb, even though I really like the people.

Also apparently I don't get provided a machine either, i have to use my home machine. This contract just seems all kinds of messed up.

Demand a machine. Tell the recruiter one of the 4 companies can surely afford to buy you one. Also demand more money and really sweat them all out but find a better contract....

What I'm doing now, no way am i signing to work for a company with no laptop, making a fraction of how much money is in the pot. This recruiter pulled the same crap a few years ago, and intentionally lowered my salary because i didn't have a degree, even though there was no reason to do so. It was still more than what i made at the time by a long shot, but a scummy move over all
