In current DC universe - Superman is THE bad guy.

Superman ends up killing a villain to save the world and comes to the conclusion that the justice system doesn't work.

Superman then decides that he is the judge, jury, and executioner and that he's actually saving lives in the long run by snuffing out the super villains.

His plan actually works and there is no crime because everyone knows Superman will kill you before you can blink.

The DC super-friends are fractured and batman & co takes him down with kryptonite weapons and armor.

Superman is jailed until they need him again - the super-friends work together one last time but in the end Superman tries to explain his position to Batman about how many thousands of innocent lives have been taken because the justice system doesn't work.

Batman does his usual "justice" diatribe and they disagree.

They beat Superman over the head with kryptonite and shove him in the hole again.

So, yes, Superman is the bad guy.
