It turns out these are more ubiquitous than I originally thought so I figured maybe I would go to one.

I'm not reading anything about buying crypto to deposit directly into offline storage like a Trezor. Is this not possible?

I see them located at gas stations and pharmacies, not banks so much. Are people really bringing thousands of dollars of cash to a shady-ass gas station to do these transactions? Seems pretty dumb to put them there.

Anyway just curious what the experience has been for anyone that actually used one.

How does your trezor receive the funds? Can you explain the process?

1) type or scan bitcoin address into machine (there are websites that let you convert a BTC address to a QR code, take a picture of it, and use that to scan from your phone)

2) put in cash

3) approve quote

4) atm sends BTC to the address from step 1

Typing I guess I understand, but how would you scan an address from a ledger nano, for instance? Do you really have to type it in to the BTC ATM?

Okay, so you can get a mobile app for ledger and with a Trezor, you can display a QR code, with which you'll scan on the machine, which will allow a deposit directly to the mobile device. Okay, cool. I've never used a crypto ATM before and I was also curious how it would work.

You don't need to use their mobile app, although it's probably easier.

Just type the hardware wallet's address into blockchain.com once: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/TYPE_YOUR_ADDRESS_HERE Then take a picture of the QR code to your phone. When you use the ATM, hold the picture of the QR code on the phone up to the ATM's camera.
