I just personally find it distracts from the page, it's too eye-catching imo. Especially given that I'm not concerned about HTTPS enforcement unless I'm dealing with personal information, I already use a VPN.
It's not a big deal either way, but an opt-out user setting would be a nice QoL option for myself and anyone who thinks like I do (if any).

that or maybe we can use CSS to change the color so it doesn't stand out so much. I like both ideas. I'll get with @AOU when he gets back.
IMHO removing it will prevent users from knowing which links are not encrypted.
Changing its color to something like grey could do the trick.
I was thinking another shade of blue.
