Another possibility is that all of those people that got it without symptoms could have been false positives since the covid tests don't work very well at detecting covid, the testing methodology was specifically intended to boost numbers, and I believe there were incentives for producing positive results. Every step of the way it has been seemingly incompetent decision after incompetent decision (or malicious which wouldn't surprise me) coupled with numerous lies and false stats so determining if any of this shit is real is damn near impossible.
