Rather than stockpile, why not make a still? Also, Wild Turkey for hunting camp, and Blantons for when some class is required.

Everyone always saying Wild Turkey or Knob Creek for their mid-shelf bourbons. Maker's Mark smoothness for the win.

For top shelf, you say Blantons, I say Blade and Bow.

I’d suggest Wellers. Not quite as hard to find, and not quite as expensive.

The Costco Kirkland brand of scotch has been well reviewed. I think it’s made by Grants in Scotland. We can’t get it in Texas because of some Texas law

This is actually a great route to investigate. It'll be a reputable well brand that will sell for a LOT more than you bought it for. AND there's a non-zero chance that the Oz surcharge will have been worked around.

If you're going to buy booze to barter with:

  1. Buy a whole case of small glass bottles, that way theres smaller amounts to trade, or if you happen to drop some, you don't lose your whole stash. Not plastic, plastic will crack over time.

  2. Get as high a proof as possible, so it can also be used as a disinfectant if need be.

This isn't a bad option. It's so pure it has utility uses as well.

Plus, you'll be equipped to infuse it with fresh stuff whenever you want and shake things up. People will get bored of drinking the same shit for months.

Also easier on your liver in a time we're not exactly trusting the medical establishment.
