Because obviously carpet does not belong in the kitchen and I managed to cut it pretty straight and now I need to know what to do at the edge where it meets the floor, I figured I would just put a piece of trim over it but I believe I am missing a step.

Yup, works like a champ. And there are varying sizes and material types.

I was about to have an aneurysm... Carpet... in the kitchen...

When I was house shopping a few years back I looked at a place with shag carpet in the bathroom. People do weird shit.

I'd go with something like this myself. ... they have all kinds where you can make a smooth transition between one height flooring and another. I did this when the carpet in the hall came up where it was fitted and I needed a way to get rid of tripping hazard where the bathroom linoleum met.

Thanks that’ll do the trick.

Roll it under itself and staple it down

So thats why the cut up portion had that done.

The real question here is: what did you find under the carpet?

Your kitchen had a carpet in it??? 😮

Just the one corner of the kitchen it has since been removed.

Was it by the door?

[–] 1 pt

No it was opposite the door to the outside.

Yeah, who puts carpet in a kitchen? I have had to rip it out of a bathroom once. WaWhite13 beat me to it, I call it a carpet bar.

I hate carpeting...it is always dirty. It doesn't matter how much we clean it, it is always dirty.

It was quite a surprise to see how much shit was under that carpet, it had been there at least 30 years.

Ewe. I don't want to imagine, only because it was in the kitchen. I know I'm a messy chef, because my teenagers complain about the mess I make them clean up, but I know I'm fairly clean when cooking by comparision.

It really wasn’t much besides sand, a lot of sand.
