Generally not, vets want that money no matter what. I guess horse "strangles" will go away on it's own if abscesses form and break; has your horse spiked a fever yet? Poor horse... BTW, don't kiss your horse on the nnose and be sure to wash your hands as horse strep throat is contagious. If you must get antibiotics call your local friendly doc and get a prescription for whatever you need. That's how cough cough some people treat their pets...dose is generally mg/kg or whatever a horse dose would be measured in.
