Yes, you can get pet meds without a script for your pet for a variety of different ailments. Tractor Supply or Walmart Pet RX online are generally the most convenient way of getting them. If you only want the safest option for your pet, you may want to stick with pet meds that have a printed serial number/Identifier on them. The reason for this is that you can use the serial number/Identifier to lookup the manufacturer, and it may be noteworthy to add that the number/identifier on the pill helps veterinarians identify what was taken in the event of a an adverse reaction (they will know exactly what your pet took, without wasting too much time).

You do not need a prescription to obtain them for your pet because they aren't overseen by the FDA, as they are marketed for pets, not for human consumption. Meds marketed for pets may or may not be handled/stored/cared for as those that are for intended for human consumption are. However, in most cases, the manufacturers of the pet meds usually happen to make them for humans too (neat), they just get sold for a different purpose, so I wouldn't be too concerned about how they are handled/stored/cared for as long as they're properly sealed. My assumption is that they just have a different label and destination, because a lot of them are made at the same place, but who really knows?

With that being said, I am not giving real advice whatsoever, because I am not a veterinarian. ;)

PS: If you're curious to know more about the types of pet meds that are also taken by humans (when legally prescribed by a licensed medical professional) this is a fairly informative website.
