Sure.
If you want an antibiotic, look it up on a pet med site. walmartpetrx for example, or one of many others. They could be for dogs, cats, or fish. The pills you will receive should have the same color and the same number or letter code as the human version. If they look the same with the same code, they are identical, made concurrently with those intended for people.

drugs.com is one of several sites where you can ID various meds.

I have purchased several types and used them. I have a pharmacist in the family who obviously won't condone what I do, but admits many meds are the same.

Yeah I used to buy FishMox, which is just ordinary Amoxicillin tablets repackaged in a bottle with a picture of a tiger-stripe angelfish on it.

Depends on your state laws. I know someone in California who needed antibiotics for the feral cat on her property that had an eye infection. She couldn't get any from a local vet or mail order vet due to California laws that the vet has to see the animal in person. She got her daughter in Florida to order them and mail them to her. She put them in the cat's food and it saved the cat's life.

Take cayenne pepper and a little salt in warm water. Stir well every time, take a bit and gargle for a minute. Repeat every 15 minutes 4x. Then every thirty 4x. Then every hour 4x, every two hours 4x, etc.

I've never had to do it more than every hour. Cayenne kills strep. My kids have never had to have antibiotics for strep.

I bought some fish antibiotics (amoxicillin) from these guys about 7 years back. Promp shipping and fixed my issue. Fish antibiotics are the same as what they give to humans just in powder form.

Yes, you can get pet meds without a script for your pet for a variety of different ailments. Tractor Supply or Walmart Pet RX online are generally the most convenient way of getting them. If you only want the safest option for your pet, you may want to stick with pet meds that have a printed serial number/Identifier on them. The reason for this is that you can use the serial number/Identifier to lookup the manufacturer, and it may be noteworthy to add that the number/identifier on the pill helps veterinarians identify what was taken in the event of a an adverse reaction (they will know exactly what your pet took, without wasting too much time).

You do not need a prescription to obtain them for your pet because they aren't overseen by the FDA, as they are marketed for pets, not for human consumption. Meds marketed for pets may or may not be handled/stored/cared for as those that are for intended for human consumption are. However, in most cases, the manufacturers of the pet meds usually happen to make them for humans too (neat), they just get sold for a different purpose, so I wouldn't be too concerned about how they are handled/stored/cared for as long as they're properly sealed. My assumption is that they just have a different label and destination, because a lot of them are made at the same place, but who really knows?

With that being said, I am not giving real advice whatsoever, because I am not a veterinarian. ;)

PS: If you're curious to know more about the types of pet meds that are also taken by humans (when legally prescribed by a licensed medical professional) this is a fairly informative website.

Generally not, vets want that money no matter what. I guess horse "strangles" will go away on it's own if abscesses form and break; has your horse spiked a fever yet? Poor horse... BTW, don't kiss your horse on the nnose and be sure to wash your hands as horse strep throat is contagious. If you must get antibiotics call your local friendly doc and get a prescription for whatever you need. That's how cough cough some people treat their pets...dose is generally mg/kg or whatever a horse dose would be measured in.

I tried to buy a variety of penicillin a few years ago called "fish mox" from PetSmart and they wouldn't sell it to me without some sort of note from a vet. Another comment here mentions Tractor Supply but I never made it down there.

“tractor supply” store, “rural king“ or a shit ton of places online. Assuming you’re in the USA.
