I chose airforce for a reason. It's less dangerous than roofing and there is very little social net or support structure for white men in America. You don't wanna drone kids... then don't drone kids...
I'll concede I don't know his life, but if ever there was a good time to enlist it's prob right after the longest war in US history.
Moving closer to family cause older I get more I realize that is what matters most. Military would move me away. If I was younger maybe. Also looking for brotherhood. Which I thought my current job would have but it is worse than high school cliques.
Very few ever find fulfillment in their jobs. There are many industries that make you jump through hoops. CDL drivers require a 6 month or yearly physical and workup iirc. Just find the hoops you know you can jump through and keep going. Too many people stall w/ some grand plan or idealized vision of the future. No one ever made it out of a deep hole w/o getting their hands dirty. Just keep that in mind. I've often considered switching careers and apprenticing as a plumber w. my cousin (and I do IT). He jumped thru the hoops... and used some third party consulting service for small businesses to tell him where to go. He's making 150k+ in a bad year.
Hoops I don’t mind. I’ve just come to realize I want to be around for my children. Their sports games, holidays, etc. current job offers pretty much zero chance of that. Not looking for fulfillment in job per se.
