A VSD is the most common heart defect that is normally diagnosed after birth, and it often requires surgery depending on the size. I’m a concerned parent with a 6 month old daughter who was born prematurely and diagnosed with a VSD. I’ve lost all trust in the medical community over the last few years, and I’m scared to put my little girl through this surgery, especially having read the potential “side effects”; one being death. I don’t know where to begin with research or what to do. The size of the hole in her heart is “moderate” and they don’t believe it’ll close up on its own. This is a 20k surgery, and given the recent medical malpractice surrounding covid, I do not want to put my daughter through this. I don’t want to believe they’re pushing it on us because of the price tag. I’ve already lost my grandma to the vaccine a few months ago, and I don’t want to lose my baby girl due to selfishness, greed and corruption.

I'm so sorry your going through that. As shitty as doctors are with the covid scam, I don't believe a pediatric surgeon would recommend this surgery unless your daughter needed it. VSD is very common but if the hole doesn't close on it's own they need to operate and close it. Surgery is probably the safest, most updated specialty in the hospital. Whereas general healthcare is still using techniques from 50 years ago. Make sure you and/or your wife are allowed to be with your daughter before and during recovery
