We know that they always accuse others of what they are doing themselves, it's a tactic written in their playbook. Milley accused Trump of wanting to use nuclear weapons. So we know that they are ready to do exactly that.

I think you are missing the point. It isn't that they are willing to use force up to and including nukes.
It's that they want to.
I'm not sure we can even use bureaucrats and politicians to do our bidding, no matter what hold we have over them. These "people" are gearing up for ww3, or at least civil war in every western country that hasn't yet turned fully communist. There are already coalitions forming between countries getting ready for it.

I think you confuse need for want. Sure they're a bunch of psychopaths in suits, and mass murderers, but their most pressing problem is they are running out of time.
The biggest problem they have is they don't have a tight grip on information anymore. Their grip is actually weakening. You can see it with people leaving facebook. You can see it with the barrier to entry dropping year by year. You can see it with the amount of people that propaganda doesn't work on anymore.
The longer things go on as they are, the greater the risk the state loses the ability to control the narrative at all.
And so, beyond any other concern, this is the biggest challenge, and threat to them.
When smoke and mirrors don't work, they resort to force. And thats exactly what they are gearing up to do.
They are getting to grips with the internet. They should have it in another generation or two.
