C60 is just an electron battery. Something like 172 h ions can be captured and redistributed. I'm not sure about deuterium, but in the mice studies they found c60 became part of the mitochondria cell membranes and boosted their energy output by ~40%.
Just because "antioxidants are bad" doesn't mean this particular molecule functions the same as those.
