Nothing caused it, matter/energy has always been present in one form or another. The religious have trouble with that concept but no trouble imagining a magic fairy just inventing itself? C'mooooooon Maaaaaaaaan!

I'm more apt for the expanding/contracting theory where everything will eventually devolve into Black Holes that will eat one another until everything is in a finite spot. Given an infinite amount of time it will vibrate enough to explode again. Who knows how many times it has happened, or this is the first? Whatever, does it really make a difference in your life?

Uhhh, yeah. I've only got one life and I'm not sure if I'm mortal or not, so I have to plan accordingly.
It is very difficult for me to wrap my head around the idea that something has just always existed.
I can't think of any else that just magically appears from nothingness.
Your suggesting that this intergalactic terrarium did just that.
