It's an unhealthy concoction of "I need to feel good about this, more money spent will make this even more perfect!" and "Well Denise only spent 1,000 on her wedding and it was small with friends and family. If mine is huge and exorbitant, more money=more love and all my friends and social media will know!" It's fucked.
