Seriously, i just talked to my one friend who'se paying 30,000 for the venue alone. When i got married, the most expensive part was the wedding cake, and even then, my wife and i felt guilty that my mom paid so much for it. I think the total wedding cost for our home wedding was a whomping 800 bucks. It just blows my mind people spend so much for formalizing what is a piece of paper

They are brainwashed by wedding shows in tv. Even my modest wife used "my one day" as a reason to over-do it.

They also think they have to take like week long vacations for their bachelorette party.

The need for external validation is a bitch.

You're right. It's an unhealthy concoction of "I need to feel good about this, more money spent will make this even more perfect!" and "Well Denise only spent 1,000 on her wedding and it was small with friends and family. If mine is huge and exorbitant, more money=more love and all my friends and social media will know!" It's fucked.

"my one day"

So when on any other day she says she wants to do something make her pay back that days portion of the wedding expense.

Sorry. For a moment I tried to use logic.
