I know the question in the title is probably retarded, but I’ve had the inspiration to make a video for kind of a long time now, and I’m finally only a couple weeks away from the point where I feel like I can be mostly fearless about what I post online.

I’m ideally not looking to buy some $1,500 computer program to edit together one video, can anybody make recommendations for free or cheap software that will allow me to make videos like these without needing an associate’s in digital design? Like just something that will let me take existing video clips and edit them together under a soundtrack

(This example is speech but the audio could just as easily be music)

If you're on Windows look here for a good quick guide on free software picks:

You should be able to create simple videos quite quickly with one of the tools posted in the video above.

Just keep in mind that the video you posted as an example is done by someone with a lot of skill and pretty complex effects. Not something you will be doing the first day as a beginner, but with some training and experimentation of course you can learn to do that too.

Thanks, to you and to everyone else who’s commented so far. Yeah, I’m definitely aware that this video is made by someone skilled; I’m literally just looking for something where I can splice YouTube clips together and play a song over the top lol
