No, it was not. I was a young lad who watched it live on Television. There was no way at that time with the technology in existence to fake the videos of Neil and Buzz walking on the moon. Every country on earth was watching, the Russians, the Chinese, and even our worst enemies the French and Israelis. If it was fake, they would have called us out immediately. Just a quick review of the telemetry data from the Apollo 11 mission shows it went to the moon and came back. Except for Apollo 13 the rest of the moon missions become routine and boring to the American public. Star Wars came out in 1977, its CGI was no where close to how real the Apollo missions where. Hell, Alien came out in 1979 and it still didn’t match the realism of the Apollo missions.

The thousands of color photographs from the moon that Buzz and Neil brought back say otherwise. The moon hoax didn’t appear until long after the missions where completed. The hoax theories focus on some difficult to explain physics, but totally ignores the countless real world evidence, like how buzz and neil left bags of their shit on the moon.
There’s just some people who won’t be convinced that they’re wrong. I’ve got a friend who is a flat earther. My background allows me to conclusively refute anything he tosses up, while giving logic-based, rational reason for the earth being round. Doesn’t matter.

You got me on that one, it appears all the telemetry tapes were erased. Why, they were unnecessary and just not that important at the time. Nobody was questioning the validity of the moon missions magnetic tape was expensive, erasable, and reusable, we have the data, let’s re-use these tapes. Not knowing it would fuel a conspiracy theory.
