I've never understood how this is even a question. Unless you completely lack the ability to learn calculus, thermodynamics, and basic fucking physics, it's not difficult to calculate thrust vectors and trajectory taking mass, various resistances, gravity, relative velocity, and orbital mechanics into account. Most of you have flown before. It's not a huge step to go from what the SR-71 can do to speeding up a few hundred meters per second, using inertia to navigate in a vacuum, and bring your velocity close to 0 before smashing into a surface before hopping out in what's essentially an insulated scuba suit.
If my blue collar ass can make sense of it, anyone should be able to with the wealth of free information available from source after source. Hell, even a game like KSP can make it click for people who aren't academically inclined.

No one ever seems to remember the thrust needed to slow down in space. The fuel required to create the thrust for the trip has to be doubled to allow for the slow down.

Actually when you think about the real challenges that would be posed in such a feat, it’s not easy at all. In fact it’s anything but easy; it’s incredibly complicated and could fail at any moment for a number of reasons. Only a dumbass would shrug it off and say it’s easy when no one has done it in 50 years. (Actually no one has ever done it and never will).
By the way “it’s easy” isn’t evidence.

If you actually start to really think in depth about pulling off such a feat, timing the trajectory, entering orbit (how and when the fuck does that even happen?), landing a craft that had never been landed successfully on earth, it’s actually all extremely complicated and impossibly sensitive, which is yet another reason they couldn’t do it with 60s technology. But these people act like it would be “easy” or “simple, it’s really quite hilarious.
