80+ years could be the worst stage. My grandmother up there, is the last surviving of 7 siblings, widowed, and has outlived all of her friends. Her mind is starting to go, and she knows it. We can't show her old pictures, they just make her start crying. She's clearly depressed 24/7. Luckily for her, she has a deeply caring family.

Hakuna matata. Just be kind to her, it’s not her fault.

Let me tell you guys... Nothing worse than being old and in pain all the time and neglected by any family. A baby doesn't know nothin. An old lonely person lying in bed all day sore all over and on a million drugs that make skin itch and sleep impossible... That person knows. That person only lives because of a shread of hope they they hold onto that some family member will remember them and hold them. They really need a hug sometimes and to be told they are loved.

Please be good to your parents and grand parents. Only degenerate trash people ignore the elderly.

No guy fuck you for supporting my parents.

A long long time ago, when parents became old and useless, they would just dig a hole in the ground and drop grandma or grandpa in it, they were to weak to climb out. They would die there and the tribe would no longer waste resources on them. You are behind the times on your thinking, resources are not scarce. Or are you just evil?

Look at the american indian, an old man would walk away with a knife "maybe not" and just face nature head on to see if he was ready to die. Can't run away and climbing is unlikely so it's fight or die or just have the awareness to see deaths sign approaching in the shape of a wolf or a bear or mountain lion.

That just made me laugh for about 4 minutes straight. Then I left, came back... Read it and laughed again.

I'm gonna need you to at least call your parents on holidays.

a baby doesn't know nothing

Are you saying babies know a lot? Or are you fucking retarded?

That is true, the elderly want company, to be shown their life experience is worth something. I find listening to them helps a lot, they are told everything like a small child all the time and they are often more intelligent than the idiot giving the instructions. It's like that in a lot of senior homes, they have little freedom and are stuck doing lame social shit with others, stuff we find boring they must find mind numbing torture to sit through. It's like they find stuff as lame as those fucking boring required OSHA video's, which most people that have seen them 10x or more just zone out and think of anything else since government video's are the ones that cure insomnia instantly.

I personally think the elderly need tiny pieces of edibles to make it so they can laugh like a kid again at stupid shit. I used to get the old guy that was in constant pain next door help with his cordwood pile and get him high and leave him a small bud for later at bedtime so he wouldn't need pills. I was one of the few people he would smile and yell hi to when he saw me and ignored most of the bitchy overstressed others that made life into a big drama. I miss the big old guy, he loved a dirty joke also but not in front of the really religious wife or he'd get in trouble so I made sure the coast was clear first. I'm smiling just thinking about him. He was one of the only positive people in the neighborhood that truly liked people and didn't have an agenda for friendship, just an old fashioned guy, totally real.

I used to bring herb to a elderly woman who ultimately died of cancer. She said weed was the only thing that could help her laugh during the last few months of her otherwise horrifying cancerous existence. I had a another family member die of cancer and wanted to smoke but was afraid that if the doctors found out she was taking illegal substances it would fuck up her health insurance. I don't think they would even test or care but she was paranoid that the health insurance company would look for any reason to deny her expenses.

Thinking about them makes me sad. There's a lot of suffering, madness and despair in the world. A couple times this year people have told me they're on the brink of suicide. Everyone's still breathing though. I give my insane advice. I say we can get through absolutely anything if we have hope. It may feel delusional but those delusions, I believe... Unlock super human powers in the brain to overcome extreme pain.

What about when your parents sabotage your life so you'll go nowhere and end up being forced into becoming their personal care givers when they're elderly? I've seen it happen to one family member and I'm watching it happen to another.

That's no good. Parents do our species a great service by peocreating but it's important they don't prevent the next generation from flourishing. That being said multi generational living should be the standard. Lots of acres of land and space. Elderly are supposed to be telling their stories to the children while supervising the children. Modern people are paying daycare workers to supervise / sexually assault their children. Shit is all fucked up.

An old person. I'm watching my grandma losing her words and thoughts delving into the past. My grandpa's been gone 2 years, her friends, her parents and sibling gone. I feel helpless because i can' t take away her pain. All i can do is care for her and keep her out of the hospital.

4 years old, you’re at the cusp of “you can be anything you want to be if you try hard enough,” to going to kindergarten. School starts, you’re getting picked on and yelled at by your teacher, and having your parents yell at you telling you can do better, or was that just me?

Only you.

That’s what I thought, first grade was worse.

Every stage sucks for some reason or another

Depends what you mean by worst. Old age is worst to me because it's so close to death and end-of-life ailments, but, it's also when you have the most wisdom and appreciation for life. Baby is pretty bad too because you don't remember anything, and you aren't old enough to be able to appreciate the fact that you have your whole life ahead of you.

One of those.

Unless you have medical problems there is no worse, there is only different. Life is 'memories' and a good life is family. First you are the young and spoiled, then you are the teen with only self made problems, then you are the adult to enjoy your children BUT have to worry about their safety, Then you are the grandparents to spoil the young for only a short time because you have to die to make room for the cycle to start again. The answer is, the young adult having to make a living and raising children has the greatest pressure.

The young adult thing was not such a chore when families lived under the same roof and the young brothers/sisters and parents/grandparents helped with the kids and expenses were split between all the working adults. Even the grandparents were well taken care of when the wives "stay at home" were there to help them out with stuff they had trouble with like putting on socks with a painful back even the kids liked helping out grandma and grandpa with stuff since they got told stories of when they were young and how the world was not so easy and you couldn't sit in front of a tv since there was no tv so they did cleaning, sewing, woodwork projects and stuff to keep from being bored.

Depends. Men, younger than 30. Women, older than 30.
