Putt gave up. Plain and simple. It's happened over years now. Add to that the fact he absolutely refuses to let anyone help and it is what it is. He had a willing band of good users eager to pitch in, but he refuses their help time after time. Now slowly but surely everybody is leaving for greener pastures. There's really no point in staying, because even if he or atko fixes it again, it'll just go down in another month or so. Till one day it's gone completely. A loss for those of us who once put time in there and believed in Voat, but again, it is what it is.
I don't buy into all the wacky theories about being bought out or taken over by shills, whatever ... I believe it's simply putt losing all interest in Voat and moving on, abandoning it in place.
This is why I built notabug.io to survive against that sort of scenario.
Same reason I made this place.
You know what always struck me as odd about the claims voat was co-opted and turned into a honeypot? It's that if it were, Fake-Putt would be maintaining it. Fake-Cynabuns would be banning some brigading pajeets. Efforts would be made to improve the site so as to lure in more suckers.
These things are clearly not happening.
As for shills taking over, even shills want to be listened to, it's why they get paid. So they'd be taking care of the site too.
My conspiracy is that is was co-opted, but they slowly let it die so we didn’t feel like we were being shoahed. Remember when Putt said we piss of some powerful people?
Much more plausible co opt theory. I personally think Putt just DGAF anymore about Voat.
