Military checkpoints everywhere to contain the new deadly variant. People rounded up and sent to camps to never be seen again. Useful people will be kept around to continue the system. The elite will then eat each other alive as there will be no forces of good left to keep them balanced and with fewer people in the system it will be far easier to create a power imbalance that will lead to conflict. These "elites" are very rodent-like in their personalities. They live in a constant state of fear. They are shamelessly opportunistic. No sense of morals or ethics. They don't have the qualities to survive without people to prop them up.
