When I quit drinking alcohol I replaced the sugar with ginger beers for a while and then just started drinking zero calorie / zero sugar carbonated water like Bubbly or Aha when I was feeling like having a drink. Does anyone know of any ill effects from the carbonation?

Skip the fake sugar crap, and look into Stevia. Or don't drink anything with the fake zero calorie crap in it. Bubbly and Aha are garbage.

Even just sweet taste triggers insulin response.

Yes. Just don't have any sweet drinks.

They don’t have any sugars or any fake sugars in them. It’s basically just a seltzer water with light flavor

I wonder if the carbonation (it's acidic) has an effect on your teeth.

This is the answer. I've had some digestive problems, tried cutting everything. Finally got some ph test strips, tested everything. Bubbly came in at 3 to 3.5. Beer and soda was 3.5. I cut all acidic drinks and my problem cleared up. OP, buy ph strips and give it a try if you're still feeling bad, it's worth a shot.

It does, so rinse your mouth with water after consuming it.

It takes one day to stop drinking sugar.

One day.

Day two you have no cravings for it.

I can now taste the sugar in the single milk they put in my coffee.

Fruit becomes super sweet. I understand natural sugar is not the same as processed sugar. Natural sugar is good for you, with processed sugar being very bad. Have an apple or a banana on the side instead of sugar in your coffee.

Sugar is a mono carbohydrate, and breads, pasta's, etc are more complex carbohydrates. You have to mix them with proteins in order to generate energy for your day. Failing that it all goes to body fat production.

What your body really craves is the energy, in the form of glucose. To get that you mix ample proteins and carbs together in your meals. If you do this you will have no cravings, and no hunger until you actually do need more food.

A hamburger (meat protein) on a bun (complex carbohydrate.) Hot dog on a bun. Bacon and eggs on toast. Pasta with a meat sauce. Fish served on rice.

A single adult serving full plate of pasta, (300 grams, or about 1 inch radius stack of pasta,) with 1/4 pound of meat, onions, celery, and tomato sauce, topped with cheese, will give you enough energy for a full 8 to 12 hours of regular activity, hunger free. That's an energy powerhouse meal right there. You might burn it off faster with hard labor.

If you eat your meals in this manner, always combining proteins with carbs, and fats, you will have no desire for sweets, or treats. No cookies, cakes, candies, etc. None of that. You don't even look at it because you have no hunger. Maybe some chocolate. (I like chocolate:) Store bought orange juice is super sweet. Almost too sweet.

And sugar, you can taste the sugar in everything once you give up processed sugar.

Your body runs better on ketones than glucose.

Yeah, I noticed that right away. I only drank the ginger beers for a couple days and now I barely eat anything sweet ever.

Wrong

No s ch thing as natural sugar.

It's just sugar and it's all unnecessary to eat.

People are obese fuks because they over consume plants. Yes the term plant and sugar are essentially synonymous.

Go meat. Go fermented. If eating sugar. Eat fibre. We cannot digest such sugars and can sht it out like bumblegum

Its just carbon dioxide

Dissolved Carbonic acid is what carbonates the drink. If you drink a reasonable amount, especially with a straw, its no biggie for your teeth.

If you guzzle like a piggie, swish it around in your mouth and then aggressively brush your teeth right after, or dont clean them at all ...

CO2 is a waste product that your body doesn't need to absorb back into your bloodstream. not sure how harmful it really is but it's not something you need so i would get out of the habit of drinking unnecessary things just because you like the taste. drink pure unflouridated water instead. def skip the artificial sweetners

Pepsi owns bubbly and coke owns aha. Fuck both of those companies.

Waterloo is still; if tours drinking that stuff, look at them and lacroix

Studies done on this found that carbonated drinks are absorbed slower into the body than normal water. Other than that, no difference
