It's exactly what Darwin called it, a false guide. The idea that Zebras and Horses share a common ancestor is nearly guaranteed. It is true. The extrapolation of these observations and ideas to humans is falsehood that contravenes all religious thought.
I would not be surprised if all other life except for humans came from a single celled organism. I am not going to reinterpret the verses of the Bible and Quran that say God literally made humans out of acoustic onyx-colored fired slick clay.
I'm less tied to the corrupted and rewritten Bible that generally and vaguely says God made the animals and fish etc in genesis.

Everything shows the magnificent power of God. In my opinion, saying that God used evolution to make animals and plants and bacteria and algae, is not diminishing His authority at all. Every single atom of everything is in complete obedience to what He wills, and He is aware of everything.
Islamically, we don't necessarily believe that God "hand made" all of the plants and animals, literally one by one (1,000,000 or 10,000 years ago). How can anything be made by any process except by the permission and allowance of God.
One huge caveat: the idea that single cell life came from free floating molecules is nearly impossible. I would agree with you that God likely miraculously the first life. I just don't see any contradiction if that is one cell.
The big exception are humans. God says he crafted Adam from fired mud/clay and then breathed a soul into him. He says He made Eve from his rib.
These statements have no room for reinterpretation.
