I work for a private non-hospital Healthcare buisness. I keep their kitchen rolling, which is a major part of their "selling point"... • They told us un-vaxed employees, that if we get the wuflu we will not be paid for missed time! •Now our fat dictator in Illinois has issue these mandates....Our employer says un-vaxed who don't take the jab, must pay for their own nose rape...

Opinions on how I handle this because I actually love the job, and have been there almost 10yrs.

Where’s your line in the sand?
Most expect an ok corral situation, it won’t be that way, it’s a slow creep on a hundred fronts towards their end. This is but another push, navigate it and you will will then have another crises at the next one. Do you give or do they…

You are at an amazing resume point in your career it seems, my suggestion is to go be with like minded people. I did , it’s awesome in a 1000 ways. Yes it’s hard, yes you give up everything around you for something unknown and have to work to get it back. At least here there is a potential future for me and my family….

I always warned people it won’t be a frontal confrontation, it will be shitty rules and mandates and threats and fines from some faceless entity delivered by mail from afar that you can’t fight. Eventually they will threaten to take away every freedom they werent entitled to, every dollar you have.

If you must stay, if there’s a union, appeal to them, make them fight. If you have a crew, see what their decision is. , join together. Contact other people in your position in other locations. Be an army or make decisions for yourself alone. Alone you have very little power.

I'd be really calm and clear with your supervisor, that you won't be getting the jab, and that you won't be subjected to testing. That it's non-negotiable, and they'll need to do what they need to do.

Or you could lie, say you got it at one of those mobile clinics, maybe a couple counties over, and you lost your papers. But, then you'll just end up having to lie again 6 months later when it's booster time.

I highly doubt your employment contract and or employee manual allows for any of that crap, go re-read them.

Get all the other unvaxed employees together and tell them none of you are taking their silly test. You're stronger in groups.

Agreeing to the test regularly is bad news. Consider that you are sending your DNA to some mystery company. Consider that you are very likely yo have false positives and therefore will be removed from the kitchen.

My last offer would be spit tests in person, and the company pays for my "covid time off" without affecting my PTO.

Have you thought about hitting up pharmacies a town over and seeing if some tech won't take a few bucks to shoot it in a trash can?

Don't give them your name till they take the money (write down the serial numbers to prove they took it) and wear a mask to stay off cam?

Mandating medical testing of employees for contagious diseases requires the employer to have a reasonable suspicion that the employee is sick and contagious. Blanket testing is prima facie illegal.

Have a chat with an employment law attorney, gather the evidence, then sue them into bankruptcy after they fire you.
