Checkable option to auto-archive would be cool.

On the otherhand if most of the users on any site choose to archive before posting, that narrows down the number of sites needing censoring, creating a bottleneck thats more easily controlled by the censors.

I use at least 3 different archived links for videos from Jootube/Twatter/Nosebook.

Dude I'm just telling people to keep them informed. It's not uncommon for whichever .is or .st or w/e TLD to not resolve due to some issue well outside even my region. The fix for this is the knowledge that all the archive.* domains lead to the same resultant site. You don't need to get salty because I'm giving people useful information.

If '*.is isn't resolving for someone. It's good for them to know they can just point the URL to archive.md/ABCDE and get the exact same archive.

Why not do something like if a user is logged in, do a rate limit on the user + ip address instead?

Captchas are only necessary when your users are random and anonymous. If they aren't, you can rate limit them which prevents them from attacks

Idk the specifics of your infra, I'm just making the case that it's possible to avoid attacks and also not annoy your users to the point that they opt to not view your content our of frustration or even because they technically cannot

I was using outline.com for a while on the original voat. Some douchnozzles didn't like it but I didn't give a fuck I liked the layout.
