It has been repeatedly upheld in court that departments can put a limit on the IQ qualify for patrol. They use the standard Wunderlic test to determine IQ. It's relatively good. That being said, I work with police from all over the world. There are elite groups. There are corrupt groups. There are occult groups and secret societies. There are also a lot of really good guys who want to see good things happen. They are lied to more than any other group by their handlers, so it's hard to blame many of them for being misguided. Plus, once you've seen the world from a cop's point of view, it's hard not to see scumbags everywhere. You get to see, first hand, that EVERYONE IS DIRTY. This is similar to the epiphany soldiers in Afghanistan face. "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR?" They all have that moment. Cops also have that moment. That's when the true self reveals itself because you decide, then and there, how to cope. Do you join in on the corruption and get your payday? Do you fight it and die? Do you bide your time and play along until you can fuck over some big players? Do you move along? Do you just do the bare minimum to collect a paycheck? A lot of the problems with cops can be dealt with the same way problems in the military and politics can be dealt with. Transparency. Good luck voting in more government transparency.
