That is an interesting angle. They altered the terms of the contract. That said each year may be a new contract which might make it harder, if they did it mid semester you might have more leverage
So, there is precedent, here. The contract is the degree plan. There are many lawsuits that use the degree plan as the contact and the basis for claims on damages.
Also this is an amazing opportunity to get a real education that will be useful throughout OP's life. Knowledge of how the courts work demystifys them and gives you amazing power over people who are afraid to use the system to their benefit. Even here there are many people who scream in terror at the thought of filing a lawsuit. But after you've done one or two it's like going to the DMV, it's annoying, but not that big of a deal.
