All the automatics I've driven have built in overdrive so when you floor it, you go! Not sure if that is the correct term. Not really a car guy. Never had issues passing. Have had issues of regretting and hating my manual transmission when inching up a hill in bumper to bumper traffic though. I will concede that manuals are cheaper (and I think easier?) to fix than automatic. But automatic still worth it IMO.
