Does anyone else find it troubling that a few years after millions of people started sending in their genes to be tested that we now have a mysterious disease and a more mysterious gene therapy injection?

Apparently the HIV virus also hasn't been isolated. This makes me think the whole idea of isolating a virus is a misnomer and dead end
