Never smoked before but was diagnosed with lung cancer a few weeks prior. I definitely feel it too, my energy levels are complete crap, i have much harder time focussing and tasks which were super easy seem difficult now. So, knowing im fucked anyways, what are some things i can do to extend my very shitty prognosis?

Don't consult Dr. Google for how much time you have left. Google articles on your diagnosis' median Overall Survival (OS) are already outdated and based on the past 15 years on old medicines. There are medical advances of the past 5 years that can make a difference for you, and on the new medications you'll be creating a new OS median that someone will read about 15 years into the future from now. Yes it's bad, however, talk to your specialist and find out your treatment options. Go to clinicaltrials.gov and see what's new and remember your 'right to try' law, where you don't have to wait for FDA approved new drugs. Look up CarT (like this https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28502785/) and other articles and see what you can sign up for - that's a million dollar treatment you can get in a clinical trial, all paid for. I'm sure there's other new treatments and drugs out there. What are you willing to do or try? Again, ditch Dr. Google, that's old news, old treatments, old info.

Terminal? So it’s already spread to your bones?

In that case, you can pray and get comfortable. If you’re absolutely certain it’s terminal… maybe consider watching Gran Torino.

is also worth watch if you are on a highway to hell.

Just don't watch these Knocking on heaven's door type movies, it's all sentimental bullshit.

My pappy about 2 years ago had cancer (of the blood), and he tried all sorts of different weird treatments. Some helped, and others didn't. After a multi-year battle, however, he died. Though he lived much longer than doctors expected. They gave him three months. He lived 8x longer than that.

So, here's some tips, and the truth from that experience:

  • Marijuana products/extracts help fight cancer. But they alone do not work. Do your research, there are different strains of marijuana, and the potencies are not all the same. Some are high in THC, and some are high in CBD. Some are in the middle. You need to find the right one.

  • Organic foods don't make a difference to your cancer, and if it does you won't notice it. My dad was on an all organic diet, or whatever, and I can't say it did shit. It was a waste of money.

  • Cancer affects you entire body, and mind. You have to prepare for the decline whatever that is. Now is the time to become Chad Thundercock. Get your body strong in preparation. Lift weights, and grow your muscles. You must exercise. Second, the illness affects your mind, so you need to tell your loved ones, and let them know you may become an asshole, and they have to know that isn't really you.

  • Diet-wise, I don't recommend gigantic changes that make you miserable. Yes, some changes are necessary, but you don't have to go crazy. My dad totally stuffed himself with vegetables, and juices, and that actually caused some health problems with his digestive system, and gave him diarrhea. Have a normal diet but (if you're like the avg. American) reduce some of the sugars, take in more fiber, and add in a few extra veggies. I recommend one clove of garlic per day for your heart (crush it, and let it sit for 10 minutes, and then swallow for maximum effect), and one serving of broccoli a day, which is anti-cancer. Yes, cancer does affect your heart-health, and even your teeth. The broccoli has calcium which helps keep your teeth strong. Eat it raw.

  • The best way to cut out sugar is drinking only water. Large flake oats are an excellent source of fiber. Don't be afraid of fats. The only fat I'd totally avoid is pork fat. But if you have to have bacon, then only have it as a once in a while treat.

  • If you're not allergic to gluten, you don't need to be on a gluten-free diet. My dad went gluten-free, and well, what the fuck did that do? Nothing because he didn't have a gluten allergy/intolerance.

  • Since your body has cancer, it won't be totally efficient, and working right, so it's okay to take some vitamin supplements. A one-a-day multi-vitamin is good. If you can't swallow that, then get a liquid. You don't need much more than that. My dad took a ton of vitamins. Again, that did not give any extra benefits. The vitamin supplements are just for maintenance.

  • My dad also took these weird Chinese supplements... HUGE FUCKING WASTE OF MONEY. Ancient/traditional Chinese medicine is a fucking scam. However, if you are still interested in some complementary medicines, I recommend ayurvedic medicine. Not all of them work, but some of them do in my experience.

  • If you don't have one now, install a toilet bidet. You will have difficulties wiping because of the disease. It's surprisingly hard to reach down there when you're sick.

  • Lastly, the normal treatments work best despite the difficulties they cause. Find a good doctor, and do what he recommends. Don't skip modern, western medicine. Despite its flaws it typically gives you the best chance of survival. HOWEVER, you need to do maintenance, maintenance, and maintenance. The normal cancer treatments alone get the first bucket of shit that is cancer, but to keep it away, you have to do the maintenance. This means a healthier diet, exercise, fresh air, sunshine, vitamins, and a positive attitude.

And that's all I got. Good luck to you, and God bless.

I second cutting sugar. I will add that on a meat/fat/vegetable diet the best fats are the saturated ones like butter, animal fats and palm/coconut oil. The unsaturated liquid fats actually go rancid inside your body.

This is a good idea, cancer cells use glucose 3x faster than normal cells. Simply switching to a keto style diet and fasting a couple times a week starves them, but doesn't affect normal cells.

Very sorry, but everyone dies. Party, kiss you family and tell them you love them. Then seek out the back door 'cures'.

You should have been smoking

[–] 4 pts

It's never too late to start.

[–] 1 pt

Fuck it, whaddaya got to lose now? Smoke, drink, eat crap, enjoy the way out!

[–] 2 pts

Sorry bro but maybe start smoking and see if you can kill the cancer that way.

Have they said what stage yet? The actual type and severity makes a huge difference in outcomes so that is something you need to discuss with a serious specialist. I do hope things somehow someway go good for you.

[–] 0 pt

The last stage. My last doctor, and i quote said "you're going to die, we have no idea what this thing is going to do to you or how long you have left. At this point do all the exercise you can, because later on you wont be able to". Brutal way of saying it, but still. I also definitely notice a severe decline in cognitive function, even light reading can make me light headed now

Ok, I was hoping for a different answer. Honestly, what you should do now is a really personal answer that depends on you and what's important to you in your life. Condolences, I survived cancer but it was nowhere near stage 4 likes yours but took over 5 years of being sick to get diagnosed.

I would suggest trying a zero carb diet. Read into the Warburg effect.

Smoke weed. Seriously. THC kills cancer.

Yes I believe this may work. Note that to be effective Fenbendazole must be combined with vitamin E.

Anyone who mentions diet is very correct. Take out anything that can cause inflammation. Inflammation is a killer. Take out anything that provides the cancer with sugars. The cancer will feed on it.

Look into prayer/meditation. Believe it or not, having faith in a higher power can calm you, and even help the body heal. There have been studies on the healing power of prayer/meditation, and survival rates have proven to be higher in those people that use the practice.

I saw it mentioned earlier, but you should look into experimental trial drugs. If your cancer is terminal, it will not harm you to give those treatments the old college try.

Taking a multifaceted approach to attacking cancer is the best thing you can do. Don't let the doctors tell you you're doomed. You are your best advocate. And remember that you should set up a support structure around you to help with appointments, etc. There are always people willing to help. Don't give up brother, my prayers go out to you. Fuck cancer!!!
