UPDATE EDIT: We found a dentist within a 2 hr drive that will do initial consult for free. Claims his staff can find funding for most of his clients. We are hopeful.

Ok Poalr Bears, I come to you in great need. Ten days ago my 42 y/o niece was severely beaten by her boyfriend of 6 months. He started the beating while she was asleep by hitting her in the face with a laptop. It got worse from there. Sweet guy.
Her jaw is broken in two places, most of her teeth are loose, and one tooth was moved from the side of her mouth to the back.
She had several other severe injuries but thankfully none of them ended up being life threatening.
The hospital released her Friday without addressing her mouth. She has no insurance.
She was living in a different state than most of the family when this happened. For a variety of reasons she couldn’t be cared for properly there. Her parents brought her back here.
All of her physical injuries will heal well enough on their own except her mouth. She’s in dire need of oral surgery.
The victims assistance in the state where she has been won’t return phone calls. No one there seems interested in helping us. Not the police nor the DA. It’s like they feel she’s out of state now, not our responsibility. The state where we reside says the crime didn’t happen in this state and there’s nothing available for victim assistance. The state’s donated dental program has a waiting list of over a year.
Do any of you have any idea of where we might turn to get her help? Our family is taking care of everything else but our financial resources are strained now.
