I know you're not a wine person, but Messina Hof is quite a good Texas wine maker. They have consistently been awarded high marks against Commiefornia wines and other famous wine producing regions. They do make some quite good White wines, but you have to be into wines to appreciate them. Starting with a Riesling is probably not a good place for a non-wine drinker as it will be too sweet to give you a proper gage for other, drier wines. I wouldn't drink this one out of desperation since you probably won't enjoy it. Get it good and cold if you do though since you're not into wine.

Also, 2004 for a domestic non-storage wine might be pushing it. Seventeen-ish years waiting might have changed the character of the wine significantly. It could be weak or sour depending on many factors. Non-storage wines aren't meant to hang around for a long time and I wouldn't let this bottle sit for more than about three years before drinking it. Your results may vary, but domestic wines don't age well if they weren't meant to be stored in proper conditions for a long time. This one might be a goner by now.

Its sweet with sour aftertastes, whatever that means. Not to bad though.

The sour aftertaste might be the remaining fruit sugar and some alcohol turning into vinegar. I've not had Messina's Riesling so I can't say if that's what is happening or if it's just the normal character for this wine so take that theory with a jigger of bourbon (which I know you don't currently have, sadly).

My next glass Im using ice, haha. Im sure thats wrong.
