The sour aftertaste might be the remaining fruit sugar and some alcohol turning into vinegar. I've not had Messina's Riesling so I can't say if that's what is happening or if it's just the normal character for this wine so take that theory with a jigger of bourbon (which I know you don't currently have, sadly).

Someone will probably get annoyed that you're doing it, but fuck 'em. It keeps it cold and makes it go further.
I won't complain. It's a sweet wine so it might as well be a fruity cocktail as far as I'm concerned. Drink it in a red Dixie cup if you have one for added 'no fucks given' to the wine snobs.
