Not sure what discipline youre going towards but for me it was always the side or extra projects. The course and materials at my institution sucked balls and I ended up just 'doing my own thing' on the side. Learning programming? Just keep coding the shit out of thing, doing electronics? Thing of items you can make or design, think it through. Combine several discipline and get that experience. Its fucking ridiculous you have 1 or 2 year students that cant even grasp the basic function of their trade, the school doesnt give a shit. They want to pass whoever or whater pays them

I was looking at doing Electrical engineering, the course is 4 years and is comprised only of Engineering units related to electronics, they don't let you do electives (random courses not related), so there is about 28 electrical engineering courses I do. It is accredited but I want to know if that matters or not.

If you live in USA and it is not ABET-accredited that may be a bad sign.

The "Washington Accord", according .

Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs), often known as “accords,” are non-governmental agreements among organizations that accredit academic degree programs.

ABET provides to see if a program is recognized by the "Washington Accord" (or other MRAs recognized by ABET).
