My state just brought back masks and my job wants me to wear one again. i said i couldn't because of a disability and they couldn't ask about it because of the americans with disabilities act. thing is, i can't back that up if push comes to shove. is there anyway this can backfire on me and how sever could it be?

I don't think it can backfire if HIPAA has any merit.

Either way, stand your ground. Don't quit, make them fire you in writing if it comes to that.
