GM, 73-87 chevy C-10/20/30 K-10/20/30 are going to survive EMPs and be kings of the new world after the apocalypse

Probably not wrong, although anything carberated should be fine.

yeah there's just shit-tons of them around, although they rust like fuck

There are a metric fuck ton of GM trucks out there, not just that era. Hell when the SHTF I'm gonna be a happy guy because I'll have more honda civics running on wood gas than I'll know what to do with, carburated until 87 and holy shit are they common and parts are easy to get/make anything work.

I have '78 c10 with a 350 for that exact reason.

I think Ford makes the best trucks but GM is the best value. Ford parts numbering is a real pain, using the year and model in the part number. Can't cross reference easily like you can with GM.

Edit: If it's a little truck, Toyota hands down.

Gotta agree with you on the little trucks part, toyota pickups(thats the actual model name) are bad ass and bullet proof.

I'm not sure what you mean on the part number thing, I can cross ford part numbers all day long, but that could just be due to certain experience I have. Do you mean putting information in the VIN? Maybe you know something I don't. Also just use dorman's website that will save you time, pretty much anyone can find a dorman number.

Hmm. When I had a '95 F-150, I'd look up the OEM part number and then search on Ebay for parts to try and find NOS for it. It always had the year and model in the number so cross referencing seemed impossible.

Here's a couple links on this:

A buddy who's a huge car enthusiast has a Ford that he loathes. The thing spends more time on the jack than on the road. May have something to do with how he's modded it to hell and back, but he says that all the Ford owners in his circles have had nothing but problems with them, and has repeatedly told me to never get a Ford. Ever.

Depends on the year. The old chevy square bodies are great....but GM sucked through the 90's. Succesful businesses don't need bailouts.

Also, don't forget Toyota. Tundras are made in Texas.

I’ve thought it over and it’s hard to argue with the engine part, but I’ve owned a dodge truck, it ran good and that was about it nothing else worked so I’ve got a hard time agreeing with dodge.
