It strongly resembles a religion.
It has high priests who convey "infallible", divinely gained knowledge (CDC, Fauci, WHO, etc).
It has rituals that are claimed to protect one from harm (6' distancing, masks, double masks, "vaccines", lockdowns, etc).
It has liturgy with associated phrases to identify members of that religion ("trust the science", "wear a mask", "social distancing", "anti-vaxxers are Nazis", etc).
It has heretics (anyone who questions the church of covid, anyone who questions lockdowns, anyone who questions "vaccines").
It zealously seeks to forcibly convert members through forced compliance with its rituals ("vaccines", lockdowns, masks, etc).
It sounds like a religion to me.
