It strongly resembles a religion.

It has high priests who convey "infallible", divinely gained knowledge (CDC, Fauci, WHO, etc).

It has rituals that are claimed to protect one from harm (6' distancing, masks, double masks, "vaccines", lockdowns, etc).

It has liturgy with associated phrases to identify members of that religion ("trust the science", "wear a mask", "social distancing", "anti-vaxxers are Nazis", etc).

It has heretics (anyone who questions the church of covid, anyone who questions lockdowns, anyone who questions "vaccines").

It zealously seeks to forcibly convert members through forced compliance with its rituals ("vaccines", lockdowns, masks, etc).

It sounds like a religion to me.

Scientism cult. This includes things like climate change doctrine and hominid races don't exist.

Scientism is the promotion of science as the best or only objective means by which society should determine normative and epistemological values. While the term was originally defined to mean "methods and attitudes typical of or attributed to the natural scientist", some religious scholars (and subsequently many others) adopted it as a pejorative with the meaning "an exaggerated trust in the efficacy of the methods of natural science applied to all areas of investigation (as in philosophy, the social sciences, and the humanities).

They are literally a cult of scientism. Because they lack spiritual centers and a grasp of remedial science, they have created a religion of scientism in which anyone who disagrees is guilty of heresy. The high priests of science are always right and how dare you confront the clergy! You are dealing with the dogma of a religious cult. According to them, we are all heretics.

People have noticed for decades that global warming has all the earmarks of a religious cult. Now you can apply the same yardstick to Covid. The prophets are liberal celebrities from Hollywood.The priests of the cult are scientists. Fauci is the high priest. He comes on television to give the litany. No one criticizes, because sacred writ is above reasonable criticism, since it comes from on-high. The masks are the symbol of obedience to the cult. The sacrament is the vaccine. The disease itself is our punishment for our wickedness, from which we must be cleansed by taking the vaccine. Those who refuse are excommunicated, and must wear a badge of shame. They are driven out of the circle of believers, until they fall on their knees, repent, and take the shots. And like most religious myths, the so-called "science" of Covid has very little connection with reality.

The irony is that it literally is. Any honest medical provider will tell you that the deferred routine care, weight gain, domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health issues that spiked due to lockdowns will kill a heck of a lot more people in the long term than Covid.

Which doesnt even touch on the plunging birth rate from lockdowns leading to a decrease in births that greatly exceeds deaths.
