The english translations always surprise people.

Jewish media always alters film footage to make it seem sinister.

When you see it unaltered with real translations its easy to understand why he was so popular.

Most heard them on the radio. The new technology of FM made his voice seem lifelike unlike the old AM.

Most of course never saw the filmed speeches we have on YouTube etc now. There was no tv. And at rallies no one could see a closeup of the stage where he did his overly dramatic gestures designed to be seen from afar like a stage actor would do for people in the back row of the theater.

Most had read his words and heard the newspaper accounts of he and his fellow ww1 veterans and compatriots standing up to the corrupt decadent weimer republic's machine guns in the streets. And his trial for that action was covered by the newspapers around the world and his trial speech in defense of his actions that day made him a hero.

The image of hitler as a screamer is a modern one. Its wrong and its why I made this post.

Hitler was a war hero standing up against a loud evil corrupt government and he was seen as a small uncorrupt man . The former generals from ww1 who people thought would lead the resistance instead faded away and Hitler got the popularity precisely because he was mere middle rank soldier. The myth of hitler as a tyrant is a modern one. The close up footage of his loud speeches would not have been seen by anyone of that time. He would have been heard from a distance or on the radio.

I think they would have to have that heroic air about them that can only come from risking life and limb to defend your fellow countrymen. And then you must have the intellectual capacity, access to reading materials and free time. And then you must familiar rise yourself with public speaking and theater.

How do you respond to the often given argument of: there were nazi guards standing by the polling booth intimidating people. it was more open than american voting so everyone knew who you were voting for. basically people were pressured into voting for Hitler

also some people try to use the anschluss vote with the giant yes vote and tiny no vote to discredit Hitlers win. as if the german election ballot was also this way.

It just hasn't gotten horrible enough yet. By the time Hitler took to the streets it was really bad and there was no hope of the german people getting out from under the oppression and decadence.
