A base is one per acre. Cows are social, so a minimum of two, plus a donkey. When time to wean, you'll need another piece of pasture away from mom. Some enhanced feed plus a couple flakes of hay per day, per animal. What breed you raising? For beef? Also, look into Ag requirements where you live, it will save you lots of money.

Thanks, I don't have any sure plans yet. I was just reading and getting a feel for what the requirements for living away from the city would be. The more I read the more I realize I have a lot to learn. I'm glad for all the available information though. Hats off to those who live that no days off life.

No worries. There is a lot to kearn. Fencing, water, graze, types of grass, hay, flies, much more.

"flies" really? Do you have any good links. I haven't gotten to the fly part. Sounds interesting. Thanks
