Honestly that will probably fix your issue, carry on.

Real talk, if your intake hose is torn(entirely possible since its rubber) then air will bypass the mass air flow sensor (MAF) This will trick the computer into thinking the car is getting less air because it's not being picked up by the sensor. Ya dig?

I can dig it. Thing is, she's pulling the filter service guage in. The MAF and hose are fine, just too much resistance from the stock filter.

That's extremely odd, that filter has to be caked with dirt. Paper or foam filter? The new foam filters are a lot better than the paper ones, you can even clean and re-use them.

Throw an aFe in there, probably best filter manufacturer.
